Happy Sadie Hawkin's Day (from Sadieville, Kentucky)

Most of you are probably saying.....huh? Well, I know that February 29th, or leap day is traditionally Sadie Hawkins Day, the only day of the year that women can ask men to marry them, unlike the other days of the year. I know this because in my hometown, there used to be the annual sadie hawkins day dance and the girl could ask the guy to it. My sister made a really cute outfit for that, I don't remember who she asked. By the time I got old enough to go, I think they had quit having it.....shucks. Anyway, now you know.

It has been the most awesome day here. I saw deer out back, this time really close. Too bad my camera's batteries were dead or I'd share the pictures.

The Upperroom Daily reading was especially good. Even the title gave me a shiver because I had just been reading Romans 14 before bed last night. You'll have to check out both to see the connection. Have a great day and stay warm, luv, Susan

God Cares About Everything

Good Morning, It is a great morning in CatLand. I hope everyone watched the game. It was awesome. I saw an interview earlier in the day with Perry Stevenson and he was saying something to the effect of " we don't want a blow out cause then the fans just sit on their hands, etc." Well, thank you for not boring us with a blowout. Oh my Gosh, that game was unbelievable.

It wasn't too many weeks ago when a lot of folks were counting our cats out. Now, they're getting some attention. I was a firm believer that God gave us the 1998 National Championship, people laugh at me when I say that, but I still believe it. I know Cameron Mills did a lot of preaching, hopefully still does and that was a part of his life experience for his Christian witness. I also recently read a wonderful article about Jeff Sheperd and his wife, really beautiful people living wonderful lives. God uses God's people to accomplish God's plan.

It's really cold here this morning, hope it starts warming up soon. Glad I have dogs. Cause it was a four dog night. Have a great day, luv, Susan Go Cats!

Not My Fault

I owe someone an apology today, maybe two people, actually. Remember I was looking for a very important folder yesterday. Well, I finally realized the folder didn't exist. I was looking for something that didn't even exist. Anyway, it's such a long story, I won't even attempt to cover it here. But, the bottom line is that I spoke harshly to two office workers yesterday and I will today call and apologize to them because I finally know, that even though it wasn't my fault(ha), they didn't deserve my anger due to pent up frustration. I'll feel so much better once I tell them I'm sorry, because when we know we've done something to cause another harm, we should always say we're sorry, even if it's just a bit of a tongue lashing, especially when we learn that it wasn't their fault either.

Maybe I should give the lady at the Henderson planning commission a call, because I really think it's all her fault.

We do have snow here, so I'm unable to go to the wonderful Bible study I had intended to attend this morning. But ,it's always a great day when I can watch CMT and catch up on my books, unpack(again, ha), and take care of four dogs. You all have a great day, luv, Susan

Always Looking

I'm always looking for something, a past bill, a newspaper article, a Bible verse, etc. Usually when I'm looking for that thing that I really need at the time, something else will come across my path. Yesterday, I was looking for a very important folder, I think it's in a box in the basement, as is approximately fifty percent of our possessions. Well, I still haven't found the folder, but I did come across a picture of me and my dad. It was taken approximately six months after my birth. It was taken by my mom, who was standing behind and to the right of my dad. I am standing in the palm of my dad's right hand. It's something he did with each of his daughters, I'm told. The amazing thing is that, even though I never noticed it before yesterday, there is a mirror on the wall across the room. I can now see the face of my dad looking at me as I stand trustingly in the palm of his hand. I hope to share this precious picture someday, but in the meantime, have a great day. luv, Susan ps, I would be amiss if I didn't also mention that my dad repeated this tradition with my daughter as well in 1984. I'll look for the picture of that.

An Awesome Weekend

I had a really awesome weekend and I hope everyone else did as well. I told my friends that because of my new address, I knew it was going to be a "Wonderful Life" in my new home and I was right. We had my Dad's 82nd birthday party Saturday and then went to Pam's for the UK game. We really enjoyed the outcome, though we were upset with the station's choice to switch to the beginning of the Duke game. Apparently, we weren't the only ones upset. This reminds me of when the CBS affiliate in Evansville tried to air a Purdue game instead of a UK game during the NCAA tournament years ago. I called the entire first half and never got through. The UK/Kansas game was on at halftime. Guess they got the message.

It's already been a wonderful day here. I enjoyed the Upper Room, as usual. It simply reminds me to always keep looking for God's presence and guidance in my life. It was easy to get up and get active afterward as "Online" was the first video I saw on CMT.

Those of you who actually know me.....am I cooler online?

I started to watch the Oscars last night, but didn't see any of the major awards, though I hoped "Juno" would win something. Hope to go see it this week. I saw the Moldy Peaches on the View and fell in love with them.(ta da da da da da da da da da da, ta da da da da da da da da da da...)

And, now because it's Monday, I have lots of stuff to do. Hope everyone has a great day, and did anyone else notice the band uniform in the second "Enchanted" song last night? Just wondering. luv, Susan

I's Really Hard To Be Still

I hadn't planned on posting a blog today cause it's Saturday and I have a lot to do....I'm really busy, I'm sorry. But, I read my Upper Room and got stopped in my tracks. (It's also noteworty at this time to say that God Must Be Busy is on CMT this very minute.) I don't know if any of you read the Upper Room, but I start my day with it. I highly recommend it at upperroom.org. Anyway, today's reading is about being too busy to have God in our life......coincidence? There are no coincidences where God is concerned. I'm sorry, I have to go now. Craig Morgan is singing International Harvester. luv, Susan ps, Have a great day.

Two Positive Responses

When I made my first posting yesterday, I said it might be my last. Well, I actually got two positive responses, so here goes again. We had an ice storm last night, so hope everyone is safe and warm. I also saw deer in our front yard , so I'll have to try and send pictures later today. But, what is primarily on my mind this morning is a Brooks and Dunn song. As many of you know, I live my life listening to country music. I became aware of CMT when I first visited my Aunt Linda years ago, but I didn't realize what a wonderful Christian influence it has until I saw a couple of videos about three years ago. I've been watching it, practically non stop, every since. The song that is on my mind these days is "God Must Be Busy". Kix and Ronnie know the absurdity of these words because, in my opinion, they are both wonderful Christians and know that isn't the case. ( I also know they didn't write this one.) But for all the fans that listen to this song and love it.........you all know that this is the feeling of many people in the world today. Where are you God? Why don't you care any more? Why are there wars, crime, poverty, etc? But, if we've been paying close attention to the world and the pace of the average person's daily life, we know that is not the problem. God is never too busy for us. He is always there...loving, guiding, comforting, and protecting. I've read a wonderful piece that expresses the feeling that God isn't too busy for us, we're too busy for Him. If we ask God for His guidance, wisdom, comfort and protection, He will give in abundance. He promises to meet our daily needs and so much more. Take the time to make time for Him today. Have a great day. luv, Susan

Hello, Friends, Family and Curious

Welcome to my first(and possibly, my last) blog. If you've come here, you probably know I have recently moved from Henderson County to Scott County. It took eight weekend trips borrowing a wonderful and generous neighbor's trailor to get all our stuff moved. But, we did what Mark thought was the impossible, we got all that stuff , even the stuff in the basement, moved. We are here and I feel like I've come home. I'm 18 miles from my mom and dad, 20 miles from sister #2 and 30 miles from sister # 1. The kids can get here easily and they have both been to visit. It's wonderful being close to my family.

Mark is still travelling back and forth to the Evansville area, but I believe he will be working closer to home in the near future.

We were in Henderson for over 20 years and we were so happy to be in such an unbelievably blessed community. It's really a special place. I made lifetime friendships there and plan to continue them on a longdistance basis.

But, when it's time to leave a place, God makes it very clear, and I knew it was time to move on, or move back as the case may be. So, those of you who may want to maintain contact with me can now do so by checkin in on this blog.

Have a Great Day
